The Girl Scout Program has four fundamental goals. These serve as the foundation for all activities. Each girl shall:
- Develop to her full individual potential.
- Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill and respect.
- Develop values to guide her actions and to provide the foundation for sound decision-making.
- Contribute to society through the use of her abilities and leadership skills, working in cooperation with others.
Girl Scout Leaders decide how often, when and where their troop will meet. Girls between the ages of five and seventeen are eligible to join. Leaders can be women or men over the age of eighteen. A girl does not need to belong to a troop to be a Girl Scout. She can register individually and participate in special events when she has time.
